Kevin started tutoring after dental school and never expected it to last eight years. At its peak he was meeting twenty-one students a week, in person and online. He still takes a small number of students each semester, because teaching one person at a time is where he learned to teach at all.
The first session is a meet-and-greet: establish rapport, look at diagnostic tests or recent work, and write down the student’s academic or personal goals. From there the time goes to building strengths in the areas that need it. Scheduled sessions are the core, but students get real attention between them too, including a reply to the last-minute question the night before an exam.
He is easygoing but professional, and he builds working relationships with students on mutual respect. Parents of younger students get straight reports.

One student calls him “patient, clear, and genuinely invested in helping his students succeed.” Parents and grandparents describe measurable gains in reading fluency and test performance within a couple of months, and students across ACT prep, college genetics, nursing-school writing, and fourth-grade e-learning during COVID-19 say the same thing in different words: he explains it until it makes sense, and he checks that it did.
Tutoring is offered by Kevin personally and is separate from Zielinski Law LLC and from his appointment at Southern Illinois University. Tutoring engagements do not create an attorney–client relationship.
